In a property sale, you can add or change the solicitors that are acting for each party.
You can do this from the sales progression screen which can be accessed either from the property record via Properties, or directly from Progressions. The process is largely the same regardless of which way you access it and whether you are adding a new solicitor or changing the current solicitor.
To open the sales progression screen, either:
- Click Progressions on the main toolbar
- Click All Sales on the side menu
- Click the relevant sale from the list
Or
- Click Properties on the main toolbar
- Select the relevant property from Recent & Favourite Properties
- Alternatively, find the property using the Search Properties bar in the top right
- Click Actions
- In the dropdown menu, click Sales Progression
To add or change a solicitor:
- In the Chain Link Detail section, within the Vendor/Purchaser box, click the Solicitor
- The Change Solicitor window opens. If there's already a Solicitor listed, click x to the right of the Solicitor, to remove them
- Use the Solicitor search bar to find and select the new solicitor, if they have already been added as a contact. Alternatively, click Add New to enter a new solicitors details
- If you wish the solicitor to also be added to the contacts record for future usage, tick Update the Solicitor on the Contact Record?
- If the contact wishes for this solicitor to act for them in regards to any other sales that they may be involved in, tick Update other Sales in Progress?
- Click Save
Note
- Don't forget to issue an updated Memorandum of Sale
- If a new solicitor record has been added using Add New, you'll need to go into the new contact record to add their address (as this cannot be entered during Add New). Without this address, your Memorandum of Sale will be incomplete
