If you, or someone in your branch forgets their password, this can be reset by the user themselves.
If needed, a Group Administrator can trigger a reset password email to be sent to the user.

Forgotten Password - All users
- Click Forgot password? on the login screen
- Enter your Login Name in the Email address field
- Click Send password reset email
- You'll receive an email with a reset password link. Click the link
- Type in a new password and confirm by re-entering
- Click Submit
- Go back to the original login screen and use the new password to log in
Best practice
Passwords need to contain a minimum of 8 characters, an uppercase character, a lowercase character, a number and a special character
Changing passwords for security reasons
From time to time, you might want to change your passwords for security reasons. Please see How to manage your passwords effectively for how and why you should do this.
- Click Your name in the main toolbar
- Select Account settings
- Click Send password reset email
- You'll receive an email with a reset password link. Click the link
- Type in a new password and confirm by re-entering
- Use this password when you next log in
System Administrators
If you're a System/Group Administrator, you can trigger a password reset email for any member of staff.
- Click Tools on the main toolbar
- In the dropdown menu, click Templates and admin
- On the side menu, under System Tools, click System Administration
- Click Group Users
- Click Edit next to the user you need to reset the password for
- Scroll down to Reset Password and click the link. This will send a reset password email and if the user tries to log in using old credentials, they will be required to update their password before accessing Alto
