In a property sale, you can add or change the solicitors that are acting for each party.

During a sale, solicitor details often change or need correcting. Keeping these updated in Alto ensures that the right parties receive communication, that documents (like the Memorandum of Sale) generate correctly, and that all linked sales remain consistent. This reduces errors, saves time, and avoids delays later in the progression.

Accessing and viewing a sales progression

There are two ways you can access the progression of a sale:

From Progressions:

  1. Click Progressions on the main navigation bar
  2. In the dropdown menu, click NEW Sales progressions
  3. You can filter the sales by Branch, Conveyancer, Sales Progressor or Status if you need to narrow down the number of sales listed
  4. Click View full progression alongside the relevant sale in the list to view the chain information, pending tasks and all of the progression milestones

From Properties (i.e. the property record):

  1. Click Properties on the main navigation bar
  2. Select the relevant property from Recent & Favourite Properties
    1. Alternatively, find the property using the Search Properties bar in the top right
  3. Click Actions
  4. In the dropdown menu, click Sales Progression. You'll then be able to view the chain information, pending tasks and all of the progression milestones

Adding or changing a solicitor

  1. In the Chain Link Detail section, within the Vendor/Purchaser box, click the Solicitor
  2. The Change Solicitor window opens. If there's already a Solicitor listed, click x to the right of the Solicitor, to remove them
  3. Use the Solicitor search bar to find and select the new solicitor, if they have already been added as a contact. Alternatively, click Add New to enter a new solicitors details
  4. If you wish the solicitor to also be added to the contacts record for future usage, tick Update the Solicitor on the Contact Record?
  5. If the contact wishes for this solicitor to act for them in regards to any other sales that they may be involved in, tick Update other Sales in Progress?
  6. Click Save

After adding or changing a solicitor, you’ll need to issue an updated Memorandum of Sale.

 Note

If a new solicitor record has been added using Add New, you'll need to go into the new contact record to add their address (as this cannot be entered during Add New). Without this address, your Memorandum of Sale will be incomplete
