With SMS text messaging enabled by default, Alto allows you to quickly send SMS messages and emails directly from your Home screen, without needing to open an individual contact record.
This can be useful for sending quick updates, reminders, or ad hoc communications to contacts.
Quick send an SMS
- Click the Alto Logo (Home tab) on the main navigation bar
- Hover over Communication on the Home screen side menu and click Quick Send SMS
- The Quick Send SMS window opens. In the To field, use the search bar to find and select the contact by name or mobile number
- In the SMS Text field, type your text message (SMS messages are limited to 160 characters)
- Alternatively, click the Insert Standard Paragraph dropdown menu to select a pre-prepared standard message that can be further edited
- Below the message, ensure you have the appropriate permission and marketing consent before sending messages to the recipient
- Click Send
If the SMS message is sent to a contact rather than an ad hoc mobile number, the message appears in the contact's Timeline.
Quick send an email
- Click the Alto Logo (Home tab) on the main navigation bar
- Hover over Communication on the Home screen side menu and click Quick Send Email
- Select the appropriate email template to use from the dropdown and click Use the Template
- The Send an email window opens. In the To field, search for and select the contact using their name or mobile number
- Using the CC field, you can enter an additional recipient that's to be sent the email, but only if they are already a contact
- Overtype the email Subject text, if necessary (By default, the selected template name is used as the Subject line)
- Tick Update Last Contacted Date if appropriate
- In the main content area, type your email
- Alternatively, click the Standard Paragraphs dropdown menu to select a pre-prepared standard message that can be further edited
- Add any Attachments needed either by selecting Browse your Computer and selecting attachments directly from your desktop, or, by selecting Browse Alto and attaching documents stored on the record (if applicable)
- Below the message, ensure you have the appropriate permission and marketing consent before sending messages to the recipient
- Click Send
If the email message is sent to a contact rather than an ad hoc email address, the message appears in the contact's Timeline.
