Once you've added the long descriptions to a property, you'll need to add further information to the property record in preparation for it going on the market.

The simplest way of doing so initially is by using our new property workflow, which helps you manage properties through the lifecycle of a transaction.

The sixth step focuses on the energy efficiency rating.

Adding energy efficiency rating details to a property via property workflow

After adding the long descriptions, the sixth step involved in Pre-marketing of the property is to add or edit the energy efficiency rating.

  1. Click Properties on the main navigation bar
  2. Select the relevant property from Recent & Favourite Properties
    1. Alternatively, find the property using the Search Properties bar in the top right
  3. Properties at any of the following status (Instructed, Available, Let (Marketing), Withdrawn, Suspended) will have a Prepare Property banner at the top of the page.
Click Edit below Listing Content to open up the property workflow and land on the Pre-marketing tab
  4. The fifth section is Energy efficiency rating - click Edit section to expand the details
  5. Add/edit the Current and Potential EPC values for the property.
We’ve connected to the governments EPC website, so if the EPC values are unknown, you can click Look up certificate on gov.uk to look up the property to retrieve the details

  6. Click Save and close
  7. Once the EPC values are saved, again using the governments EPC website, you can click View certificate to check the certificate and ensure the information is up to date

With the Energy efficiency rating details added, you'll now want to move on to setting a property's mapping location.

Changing energy efficiency rating details for a property via the property record

At a later point (i.e. when the property is set as Available and is being marketed), you can change the energy efficiency rating details from the property record, if necessary.

You can either upload EPC charts, or, you can add the values into Alto and the charts will be created for you. Once done, the charts and/or values will display on the portals.
